This Weeks Purchases...

AliciaEmmie, 15th December, University, Biomedical Sciences, Current, Makeup, Vintage, Family <3

This week has been so crazy. I've been super busy at Uni and have two 9am starts each week which sucks! I've also been really busy with cheer leading as we have BCA competitions coming up; so lots of training and drilling stunts; which is a killer!
I am counting down the days until I'm home for Wrekin Dance Festival next weekend. I'm so excited see how everyone at Cadwaladr School of Dance had can't wait to catch up!
This weekend I am going for a meal with some of the girls from the course I was on last year for one of their birthday's which is always fun. These ladies are like moms to me, but I am usually the one looking after them and laughing at their drunkenness!
Lets see what this weekend brings!

These are my purchases this week. Being a student I obviously have a food shop too and I had an Indian Takeaway on Sunday because I have no motivation to cook what so ever.

Starburst Smoothies - £1.00, SPAR
The mango & passion fruit flavor of these is amazing! It tastes like Trident Gum Tropical!
As for the others... I'm not really a fan; especially strawberry & banana.

Tic Tac Strawberry Fields - 80p, SPAR
I love these! They are so yummy and don't have that odd flavour of strawberry and mint; just pure strawberry!

Brown Satchel - £9.00, Primark
BARGAIN! Cheeky Primary, this is such a dupe of Cambridge Satchel! My friend thought it was until I said it was from Primark.

Iridescent Triangle Necklace - £4.00 Primark
I love triangles at the minute so this is perfect and was such a good price. It would have been rude not to!

Porcelain Pot - £2.99, YMCA Charity Shop
I was shopping for a vintage jug or mug when I came across the beauty. Its perfect for earrings or rings.

Argan Hair Oil - £2.50, Primark
I used to have the actual Moroccan Oil, but I shared it with my old house mate so when I left the house I left it there. Since having a perm my hair can get pretty dry. So for £2.50 I thought I would give this a try and I must admit, it is just as good, if not better than Moroccan Oil. Will defiantly be repurchasing this!

Mac Brushes - £20, Ebay (I will blog about these soon)
I don't want to give out too much information about these because I want to do a whole post about them. But they are goof brushes.

Brown Brogues - £35, Vintage Shop
So it's not like I've been wanting real brogues for like 3 years instead of wasting my money on the Primark version that I wear hole in so quickly! I love these shoes and can't wait to wear them in the summer with frilly socks or with my tights and socks in the winter!

I'm not sure what I will be buying next week.. Any Suggestions?

There Is A Castle On A Cloud...

LES MISERABLES

The Guardian: Tom Hooper's film is a colossal effort – after 158 minutes, you really have experienced something. It's just not clear what. 4 STARS!

From a young age I have been bought up around a family who is obsessed with the theater production of Les Miserables. My Mom and Dad saw it when I was about 5 and I remember listening to the CD in the the car with them and admiring all of the Les Mis merchandise Dad had bought and made a display out of.

'He spent a summer by my side... But he was gone when autumn came.'

When I was 8 I auditioned for a local pantomime and part of the audition involved singing a solo. I had never had singing lessons, but I remember practicing the song 'Castle on a cloud' which is sang by young Cosette in the production. Although my passion for the song was there... my singing ability wasn't, so I wasn't picked for the pantomime.

'Look down, look down, you're standing in your grave'

When my brother was old enough to understand the story line of Les Mis, my Mom and Dad took him to Machester to see it. I was so jealous  and had to wait another 5 years until they would let me go and see it.

'I dreamed that love would never die, I dreamed that God would be forgiving'

Mom and I had a long weekend in London in 2009 where we saw numerous musicals on the West End, including my favorites; Wicked, Oliver and Les Mis. We didn't book tickets in advanced for the shows so we didn't get very good seats; especially Les Miserables where we were on the back row!

'...and you will keep me safe, and you will keep me close, and rain will make the flowers grow.'

I have also seen the school production of Les Miserables performed by New College Telford. Some of my friends acted in it and I must admit I enjoyed it more than I did the West End performance. I felt I was able to connect with the performance and found myself streaming with tears; and I mean streaming when Fantine died.

'Cos little people know, and little people care. A fly could fly around because fly's don't care...'

A few Christmases  ago we went to see Les Miserables at Birmingham Hippodrome as a family. We had really good seats! yaay! This production was amazing!!!! Literally spectacular! I was mesmerized at the performance!

'Every day you walk with stronger step, you walk with longer step; the worst is over...'

So after seeing Les Miserables 3 times, and my parents seeing it 5 times, you can guess that there was lots of excitement in our house when it was announced there would be a film, and when Anne Hathaway was announced to be playing the role of Fantine I was SUPER excited as absolutely love Anne Hathaway.

'You know nothing of Javert. I was born inside a jail! I was born with scum like you, I am from the gutter too.'
Image from Vue Website.
So last night my boyfriend took me to see the film, on opening night at VUE in Plymouth. We watched a late showing as it was on a Vue Xtreme screen (the size of two Double Decker buses). WOW!

'Here they talked of revolution, here it was they lit the flame. Here they sang about tomorrow, and tomorrow never came.'

IT WAS AMAZING! Believe all of the outstanding reviews and go and see it!

'Do you hear the people sing, signing the songs of angry men. It is the music of the people who will not be slaves again.'

I found myself filling up of tears at different point in the film than I have done when watching the stage production. I guess this is because the film is more in depth so you see things as a whole picture and you are a lot closer to the action than when sitting in a theater.

'What have I done? Sweet Jesus what have I done? Become a thief in the night, become a dog on the run...'

My boyfriend who was a Les Miserables virgin loved it too and now wants to see the stage production.

'Everybody raise a glass, WOO, Raise it up the masters ass, WOO, Everybody raise a glass to the master of the house.'

There is something for everyone, action, comedy, romance, the lot!

Here are some shots from the film taken from  www.lesmiserablesfilm.com

I would recommend this film to anyone!

Wish List...

AliciaEmmie, 15th December, University, Biomedical Sciences, Current, Makeup, Vintage, Family <3

Is it just me, but when people ask you what you want for your birthday you never know; the same for Christmas? Then as soon as they are over you see things that you want.
I suppose some people are lucky enough to have their birthday in the middle of the year so it is spread out from Christmas and they don't have this problem.
But then again, you can't choose when you are born!

Here is what I have seen that I would really like to purchase in the near future and my reasoning for wanting them.
Some bits are random I know and I'm not including where they are from because they are specific things I want and not from any particular shop.

Faux Leather Jacket - because it will rough up any outfit .
White Converse - to wear frilly socks with.
Blue Tartan Scarf - to go with my new Barbour coat.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - I'm all for trying new foundations.
John Green Looking for Alaska - I fancy reading a book.
Wonka Bar - why the hell not!
Tony and Guy Salt Spray - let's see what it does to my perm.
Cute Pillow - I want loads on my bed.
Midi Dress - probably wont suit my figure but I like them.
Vintage Jug - to hold my makeup brush collection.
Keri Smith Wreck This Journal - this looks like so much fun!
Leather Skirt - classic keeper for the wardrobe.
Revlon Lip Butters  - heaven on your lips.
Heeled Chelsea Boots - I have flat ones, now for the heels!
Stephen Chbosky The Perks of Being a Wallflower - this book has such good reviews.
Taylor Swift Wonderstruck - I have too many perfumes at the moment, but I must try this!

Flower Nail Tutorial...

AliciaEmmie, 15th December, University, Biomedical Science, Current, Makeup, Vintage, Family <3

So I promised I would upload some Christmas Nails in January to avoid out of the Christmas Blues. However my new nails wheels still haven't arrived; Arghhhh!!

I've had this design on my phone for ages but I've never had the time to sit down and do it. Today I only had one lecture at 10am for the whole day; Perfect nail painting time!

This is a tutorial showing you how you can achieve this simple but amazing look!

1

Base coat - Sally Hansen Continuous Treatment
Barry M Peach Melba and Matt White

White Nail art pen for the dots
(Bought from a Chinese shop in Spain)

I painted 3 fingers all Peach Melba and for the two middle ones I just painted half my nail and then painted the other half using Matt White.
(You could  paint all of the nail and then paint on top if you find that easier)
LET IT DRY
Use the White nail art pen to add dots.

2

Hot Pink, Baby Pink nail art pens from ebay
Light Blue nail art pen from Spain

Add random squiggly lines inside your white dots to make a flower shape.

For the flowers without a white blob as a background, draw squiggles in a circular shape. I imagine that the blob is there and try to work in a circle.
(My blue isn't very good and this is my right had so apologies for the messy-ness)
LET IT DRY

3

Barry M Spring Green
Green nail art pen from ebay
Nail art brush from ebay

Add little green triangles to your flowers for the leaves. I use a mixture of Barry M Spring Green with a brush and the green pen.
LET IT DRY

4

Silver square studs for nail art from ebay
Cotton Bud

Sorry I don't have a picture for this bit because you have to work fast!

Place some studs onto a solid surface with the shiny side up.
Place a small strip of topcoat or false nail glue where you want the studs to be stuck.
Lick or wet the cotton bud then place it on top of the stud.
This will lift it of the surface so you can place it onto your nail.
If re-positioning is needed, use tweezers or the wet cotton bud.
Repeat as required.
Make sure you work fast so that the top coat or glue doesn't dry before you put the stud on.
 LET IT DRY

5

Topcoat - Sally Hansen Continuous Treatment

Finally apply a decent topcoat that doesn't smudge nail art. I have found this topcoat to be the best for not smudging and it's long lasting!
LET IT DRY

VOILA!

In order of use!
